Project: Exterior design for a country house
Type of project: Exterior refurbishment
Date: 2020
Phase: Completed
Description: Following the pandemic, we became more aware of the importance the outdoor spaces have in our quality of life. Thus, the search to create new functions to existing outdoor spaces is growing.
This project provides a new leisure area around an existing water tank in a country house, former agricultural property. The already obsolete water tower was demolished, opening up the area and reducing shading over the water tank, which is now being used as a swimming pool. Two contiguous platforms were added at water level. A simple shading structure has been added on one of these platforms.
The new platforms, finished in composite deck, function as sitting and leisure areas around the pool. Facing south, they were located at both ends of the tank in order to increase the perception of its length and diversify the access points to the water. Its location overlooking the house also allowed to visually connect the recreated area of the tank to other existing leisure areas.
